The Long Beach Community College District (LBCCD)
The SBDC Network/LAVSB, which provides business counseling and workshops for the Los Angeles region, is administered by the Long Beach Community College District (LBCCD) through its Office of Economic and Resource Development.
The Long Beach Community College District began in 1927 as Long Beach City College. LBCCD has two locations: the Liberal Arts Campus at 4901 E. Carson Street and the Pacific Coast Campus at 1305 E. Pacific Coast Highway, both in Long Beach, CA.
As a comprehensive community college, LBCCD provides quality associate degree and certificate programs, workforce training and preparation for transfers to four-year universities. Its 32,000 students make it among the largest of California’s 110 community colleges.
Office of Economic and Resource Development
To help bridge the gap between business needs and workplace skills, the LBCCD’s Office of Economic and Resource Development provides a wide variety of training in workplace and technical skills. It also seeks to enhance the Long Beach region’s economic growth and global competitiveness by focusing on business development, international trade, information technologies, transportation and healthcare. Administrative offices are located at 4040 Paramount Blvd., Suite 107, in Lakewood, CA.
The SBDC Network/LAVSB
As part of its expanding scope of business assistance, the Small Business Development Center Network/LAVSB was created to provide business help, training and advice throughout Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara counties. Building on the expertise offered by the LBCCD’s Office of Economic and Resource Development and contracting with seven other, small-business assistance providers, the lead center serves as the administrative head of the network. It operates out of the Lakewood location.
